Warcraft III's Reforged?

Blizzard announced Warcraft III's first new campaign in 20+ years at BlizzCon - and quietly avoided saying whether it redeems or abandons the 2020 remaster.

BlizzCon 2026 ran September 12-13 in Anaheim alongside the WoW Arena World Championship and Mythic Dungeon Invitational finals ($600K combined prize pool). Blizzard announced Warcraft III's first new campaign since the original game - no subtitle, no platform, no delivery timeline given.

Warcraft III hasn't had new campaign content in over two decades. For an RTS fanbase that watched the genre shrink for years, a studio choosing to fund new production on the original IP - rather than another spinoff - is a real signal, not nostalgia programming.

The real question nobody's asking out loud: does this campaign live inside Warcraft III: Reforged - the 2020 remaster that shipped missing features and became one of Blizzard's worst-reviewed products - or does it ship separately? If it's Reforged, Blizzard is committing to a redemption arc for a product it's mostly avoided discussing since launch. If it ships separately, that's a quiet admission Reforged was a dead end. Blizzard hasn't said either way, and that silence is doing more work than the announcement itself.

Watch whether Blizzard even mentions Reforged by name when campaign details actually drop. If they don't, that's the answer.
