The Oath
I remember this being one of the first books I had ever read that actually locked me in. I was probably a bit too young for it, but I understood what mattered – the suspense was palpable. Today's audience would notice the lean into religion, but don't let that push you away; I promise the ride is worth it.
The main character, Steve, is just a simple man. He is incredibly relatable and you can feel the author projecting his own voice through the character. What I did not expect is how quickly this ride went into the uncanny. Steve is able to see people visually dripping with Sin. His adventure begins after making the decision to investigate his brothers death at the claws of a bear. What he finds...is not worth spoiling.
