Keep Driving's Console Launch Is a Second Launch Without a Sequel

A year and a half after launch, a small team shipped to three consoles and opened PC to modders on the same day. That's how a small game launches twice.

Keep Driving, YCJY Games' road-trip management RPG, came out on Steam in February 2025. On September 28 it launched on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch with every PC update included, and the same day the PC version got Steam Workshop mod support in beta (RPG Site). RPG Site puts sales at 300,000 copies so far.

The same week, Minecraft Dungeons II launched at $29.99, day one on Game Pass, and took most of the oxygen. If you're building a small studio, the smaller launch is the one to study.

Fair is fair: a console port by itself isn't news, and Dungeons II was the bigger launch by any measure.

But Keep Driving didn't just do a port. It reached new players on three platforms and handed its old ones the tools to make more game - on the same day. The consoles are new customers. The Workshop is new content the studio never has to pay for. Mods are how a small team gets a content pipeline it could never afford to staff.

That's a second launch without a sequel. No new engine, no new marketing cycle from zero, no asking players to buy the same idea twice.

If you're building a game right now, plan year one so year two can be a launch.
